Volunteer Opportunities

Introduction:

As a club we host several major competitions and events throughout the year. These events are effective fundraisers for our club. We focus our fundraising efforts on these events and no longer require smaller fundraising campaigns such as selling Butter Braids or wreaths. These events raise a significant amount of money for our club and help to keep ice costs down for every skater in our club. In addition, these events generate great publicity for our club. If we host a good event, people will talk about our club and more participants will come the next year which will make these events even more successful which will further subsidize the cost of ice all skaters use in the upcoming year. However, to make these large events run smoothly, we need help from everyone. There are also many smaller opportunities to volunteer throughout the year by doing things such as delivering flyers or posters.

This year’s major opportunities include:

Halloween Party

Ice Show

Holiday Festival (Skate with Santa)

Annual Meeting and Banquet

Holiday Exhibition

Testing

Hiawathaland

Volunteer Policy:

The volunteer fee for the contract year 2011/2012 is $240 per family. You may choose to pay the fee when submitting the contract and not volunteer for the year or you may choose not to pay the fee and volunteer. If choosing not to pay the fee, the required number of volunteer hours is 24 per family and must be fulfilled in their entirety to avoid paying the full fee. Please note that skaters who will be 19 or older on September 1, 2011 are exempt from this requirement. Details concerning pro-rating, synchro hours, and other items can be found in the RFSC Volunteer Policy.

The Volunteer Opportunity form is included in our online School Year Registration. Use it to indicate whether you are going to pay the volunteer fee or volunteer for the year. If you are planning to volunteer, please indicate your volunteering interests so that committee chairs can notify you in advance of volunteer opportunities. This form must be completed before your School Year Contract will be accepted.

Exceptions:

·      If there is more than one skater in your immediate family, you only need to complete the form once. For the additional skaters select “Information submitted with another skater” in the Volunteer Status section and include the name of that skater where indicated.

·      If the skater will be 19 or older on September 1, 2011 you are not required to complete this form. Simply indicate that the skater is 19 or older in the Volunteer Status section of the form.
